I’ve been so focused on our house hunt that I came dangerously close to forgetting about the road trip narrative I started awhile back.
Our third stop was Niagara Falls. While the falls are impressive and command a healthy level of awe and respect, I would NOT drive more than a few miles out of your way to stop and visit Niagara, NY. Or if you do plan to visit, you may want to hit up the Canadian side.
Outside of the Niagara Falls State Park, it’s a very depressed area. One bit of business that is booming, however, is indian restaurants. We went to a tasty one our first night there, but they didn’t invest much into their ambiance. It featured a self-serve buffet complete with styrofoam dinnerware and plastic floral tableclothes. Here’s a picture of their sign to give you a little flavor of the place.
We also went to a breakfast diner that was straight out of the 60’s – prices, decor, and the waitress staff. It sounded promising, but it was weird. Our breakfast was only $6 or $7 but our elderly waitress was complaining about pain from heartburn… or a heart attack. The locals were also giving us the stink-eye. We went to Starbucks for breakfast after that.
The falls were awesome, though. My favorite part of our stay was watching fireworks over the falls.
